      Tricky one!
There was no one person. I was inspired by nature and science documentaries as a kid. My biology teachers were great and really passionate about their subject. Currently, I work with a lot of scientists that come from varying backgrounds and their passion inspires me too!

I use a lot of brilliant techniques in my job and read about a lot of discoveries that are made in my field so far. The people who discovered proteins, those who first endeavoured to find a protein’s shape, those that invented the electron microscope and of course, those that found the clever mathematical way of finding a 3D shape from the shadows- every single one of them is an inspiration. All of these were incredible scientists who all started out like me, and made these contributions through their passion and skill. Their passion and skill inspire me.

The people who refused to teach science from books but instead helped me understand just how marvelous science is by setting things on fire, eating things and running around! Other inspirations are people like Dr Jane Goodall and David Attenborough who have used their background in science alongside their excellent communication skills to really make an impact on the way people view science and nature!
