I like that I have a lot of variety and flexibility in my job. Some weeks I will be extremely busy on a project, others I will have more time to focus on getting side projects finished or participate in events like these! I also love that my work can contribute to achieving a greater understanding of topics within the scientific community. It makes me feel like I have really achieved something.

Another part of my job that I enjoy is that I get to meet loads of new people from all over the world, all who are interested and enjoy science.

I totally agree with Rebecca – variety is great 👍 Every day is different in my job! One day, I could be sitting at my desk writing about Lasers, the next day I could be in Edinburgh helping kids build Lego Saturn V rockets and sometimes I even end up heading to a different country – all in order to talk about science 🚀

I also find it very rewarding when I can turn a really complicated but exciting scientific discovery into something much more understandable (that is just as exciting). I love showing people that you don’t need to know chemical formulas or have a degree to find science interesting and see how it makes a huge impact on everyone’s lives!

Lastly, it is a creative job! Taking photos and making videos, infographics and animations are all really fun and are great ways to communicate science 📷📽

I like that I am able to work everyday towards finding a cure for cancer. So every time I discover something new, I am one step closer to that goal.

Also, more than anything, I love the fact that I am able to do what I love (solving puzzles) as a career.
